Hunting Students Is In Season In Texas

Apparently hunting middle school students is in season here in Texas, or at least at Harwell Middle School in Edinburg where I live. The school was having basketball tryouts for the boy's team. The hunters must have mistook them for ducks.  One of the students was sitting on a curb, the proverbial sitting duck, and the other was going for a layup making him a moving target.

Maybe they are practicing for the spillover violence from Mexico under the guise of hunting fowl. If more of these good ol' boys are thinking of using more human targets in this vicinity,  I may be heading for higher ground (Iowa) sooner than later.

My take is that if they weren't shot intentionally, then it was recklessly or with negligence. I'm not seeing any other choices.

Those poor kid. Those poor parents. Those dumba$$es, whoever it was that shot them.

  2. I agree with your assessment. I've never heard of any other students at any place that were ever shot by hunters while on school ground. I can't believe there could be lawful hunting grounds that close to a school??? Something will be changed across the entire nation to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  3. I'm all for Chris Rock's bullet control idea. If bullets cost $5,000 apiece, there would be no innocent bystanders.

  5. What do you expect when half the population drives around with gun racks in their trucks? We lived in Houston once, and had a lovely freindly fawn Great Dane. One day he went missing, those shots we's heard earlier?? "Oh Bubba..look it's not a deer it's a dog!"

  6. I'm sorry about your dog. Since you are a regular reader, you know I am an animal lover. Well, dogs and cats anyway. I wasn't so fond of my son's snake.
